OUR MISSION

African Child Care Association, Inc. provides assistance, support and education to children, in Sub-Saharan Africa, infected with HIV and affected by AIDS. We help those kids to meet their diverse and special needs and to bring joy and fun into their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

In order to slow and reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS infections, and lessen its impacts on African children, we provide direct assistance where needed, reinforce the capacity of families and communities to support, protect, and care for the children, and finally increase awareness about HIV/AIDS epidemic, its transmission, as well as its prevention among youth.



How do we accomplish our mission?

To accomplish our mission, we:

  • Provide financial, material and moral support to children affected by HIV and infected by AIDS and their loved ones
  • Support Coordinate efforts in minimizing discrimination in issues relating to AIDS/HIV infections.
  • Liaise with other agencies of similar orientation in the exchange of information and knowledge with regards to AIDS/HIV infection.
  • Raise and disperse funds to carry out our objectives.
  • Receive and hold donated properties and assets.
  • Undertake any other activities as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.
  • Encourage people in the affected communities to help with their own development.

The Facts

  • Sub-Saharan region of Africa is a home of an estimated 25.8 million people living with HIV which is more than 60% of all the people living with HIV virus in the world at the end of 2005.
  • In just that year, there were an estimated 3.2 million new infections, while more than 2.4 million adults and children died of AIDS.
  • Among youngsters aged 15-24, more than 1.7 million people were living with HIV in 2005; under age 15, more than 2.1 million children are living with HIV.
  • According to various surveys (2000-2004), in every group of 4 young people living with HIV, there were 3 young women for 1 young man. 12.3 million Children have been orphaned by AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Every day, about 1,700 children become infected with HIV.
